Michael Duffy

With a family steeped in show jumping history, Michael’s participation in the sport was unavoidable. He was introduced to the sport at a young age thanks to his father Paul, a former International Irish show jumper. His grandfather Paul Senior was an acclaimed course designer renowned worldwide, while also chairing the committee for International Affairs and Selection within the sport for many years.

Michael, of Turloughmore, Co. Galway, excelled in underaged categories, holding two silver European Championship medals in both the Children on Horses and Pony disciplines. 

At the age of 17, in 2012, he made history in the sport by becoming the youngest ever individual to win the National Champion title in which he still retains today. In 2015 he claimed the bronze medal at the Young Rider (Under 21) European Championships. 


Michael has represented Ireland at senior Nations Cup level on numerous occasions producing wins and podium finishes including

  • European Championships (Young Rider), Austria 2015 - Bronze Medal

  • Al Ain CSIO 5* UAE 2017 - 2nd place

  • Samorin CSIO 5* Slovakia 2018

  • Lisbon CSIO 3* Portugal 2018 - Win

Michael is based at Broxmead Farm, West Sussex where he operates a highly successful competition stables, produces top quality horses and offers training and boarding to clients, through to a high level of the sport.

In 2018 Michael was called up to join the newly formed team - Miami Celtics as part of the Longines Global Champions League. The league’s opening round, taking place in Mexico was claimed by the team with Michael and EFS Top Contender nominated to jump in both rounds - contributing to their win.

In November 2018, Michael helped Miami Celtics secure 3rd place finish in the overall league by taking second place in the final team competition in Doha, Qatar with horses Egalini and Quintano 35 jumping each day of the competition.

April 2019 saw another victory with a flawless performance from Shane Breen and Michael helping Miami Celtics to a fantastic win in their home leg of the Global Champions League at Miami Beach, Florida in the USA.
